Custom King: Keith Foster, 51, Sales Executive
After 21 years in the packaging industry, redundancy forced Keith Foster, 51, towards a change in direction. His interest in bikes comprised of watching bike racing until 2005, when he decided to take his bike test primarily to be cost effective for commuting. Then in 2012 he started working for Harley-Davidson Norwich.
“Harley-Davidson bikes have uniqueness; each bike is a blank canvas for change; a starting point of a custom journey that can be simplistic or as extreme as you like,” says Keith. “Harleys also deliver a greater camaraderie between owners – they instantly talk to each other like a friend.”
Since working for Norwich Harley-Davidson, Keith has customised his own Forty-Eight, Street Bob and a Fat Bob in Dark Custom style. Keith adds that fitting components makes a personal statement making every bike unique.
A Roadster from the Sportster range became donor because it was a good basis for the team’s vision of a café racer with a modern twist, while at the same time acknowledging Harley-Davidson’s 115th anniversary celebration, partly by using as many H-D parts as possible and no serious fabrication work. Along with the paintwork, the riding position is pretty special: “Everyone who has sat on the bike has said, with begrudging acceptance, it feels really right!” The one area that raised a challenge came from fabricating a new mounting point for the exhaust to sit with the rearsets.
