Custom King: Andrew Gillis, 29
Andrew Gillis is a confirmed petrolhead. At first it was just cars and now, after breaking free from a car technical background to work at Belfast Harley-Davidson, he’s a confirmed bike nut – a Harley-Davidson one at that. “Cyberbob” is Andrew’s first Dark Custom build and he freely admits it’s given him a taste for more of the same. “I really enjoyed doing the build. It has given me great insight into custom bike building and I can understand why our customers have an addiction to customisation.”
Andrew had the advantage of other Belfast Harley-Davidson staff to help form a plan on what direction their Dark Custom build should go. Andrew got up to speed on the many custom genres but it was famed custom builder “Billy Lane” that caught his imagination; the overall style of his bikes especially the Bobber-style... and this is the reason why Cyberbob is what it is. But why call it “Cyberbob”? Simple answer: “When we fitted the new headlight to the bike it reminded us of the Cybermen from Doctor Who!”
