Custom King: Todd Meynell, 29, Service Advisor
Arguably the most difficult part of Sycamore Harley-Davidson’s build was the actual naming of this tasty Dark Custom Forty-Eight. After several hours brainstorming a decision was reached. Say hello to “Alley Rat”, yet another good-looking build from the men behind Syc Kustoms, the custom side of Sycamore. This offshoot came about after Sycamore’s top five success in the 2017 edition of BOTK. Since then seven further commissions have been undertaken by Todd and fellow Custom King Trevor Bell.
According to Todd Meynell, the bike is inspired around the era Harley-Davidson were released from the shackles of AMF and bowled off down the road to freedom. From this idea the “Alley Rat” was born. This interpretation has resulted in an urban-brawler style of bike fit for the competition to come much like the MoCo back in 1981 hence its DNA attitude from the AMF era. The end result, says Todd, “Is more of a celebration of the original shed-built bikes and the freedom for imaginations to run riot with a raw, stripped look but one where all the work comes together with the paintwork in place.”
